Michael's details

About Michael

After completing my schooling in South Africa, I spent three years in the United States working at country clubs across Florida and New York.

After a year back in South Africa, I moved to the UK in 2018 to continue the next stage of my journey. I entered the financial services industry, where I gained experience across almost every aspect of lending operations.

While this experience has been invaluable, my true passion lies on the asset side of the balance sheet. I am now looking forward to building my career in asset management and seeing what I can achieve.

The part of my job I enjoy the most...

Knowing that what we do has a massive positive impact on the people’s lives. You can’t put a price on peace of mind.

When I'm not at work, you'll find me...

Exploring new countries, wakeboarding, on the golf course or having a braai (BBQ) with friends.

Nice to meet you

Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without?

My daily Sudoku – it helps wake up my brain in the morning.

What makes you laugh?

Any dry slow burning jokes that take a bit of thought generally make me chuckle.

If you had to take part in Karaoke, what would be your song of choice?

I would probably butcher Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash.

Which celebrity would you most like to meet up for a coffee / glass of wine and why?

I’d love to have a drink with Rassie Erasmus. His leadership of the Springboks is inspiring – he’s shown how to unite a team, adapt under pressure, and lead with both heart and innovation. Plus, I bet he has some great stories about rugby and his shenanigans!

What’s on your bucket list?

To visit every country in Europe.

What three items would you take with you to a desert island?

Water, my braai and some form of paddleboard or canoe.

What’s your proudest accomplishment?

Moving to the UK with very little and being able to purchase a flat just a few years later.

Have you ever met anyone famous? – story please!

I met Cuba Gooding Jr. in a bar in downtown New York, nothing overly exciting but he seemed like a down-to-earth guy.

What is the best gift you’ve ever been given?

Probably my Weber BBQ – many fantastic “braais” centred around it.
